Bodega Ruca Malén

Ruca Malén's dream began in 1998, when Jean Pierre Thibaud left the chairmanship of Bodegas Chandon in Argentina, after 10 years of service. He met Jacques Louis de Montalembert, who had also forged an outstanding career in the winemaking industry in his hometown, Burgundy. Both men soon discovered that they shared the same dream: starting their own winery in Mendoza, a winemaker's paradise at the foot of the Andes range.

Thus, they joined efforts to work on the Ruca Malén project. The aim was to concentrate on making wines of excellence, based on their knowledge and, above all, their passion for winemaking. Several months later, they produced their first bottling: the 1999 vintage. From its very onset, Ruca Malén has been committed to enological quality, which translates into wines with style, elegance and distinction.

The Mendoza facilities have been designed to offer an easy expansion of productive capabilities. This has enabled the firm to invest 2 million dollars this year in an expansion project that duplicated the installed capacity, achieving a productive potential of a million liters.

At present, the winery produces the brands Yauquén, Ruca Malén and Kinién, which belong to the $ 17.50, $ 35 and $ 75 segments respectively. 45% of the winery’s production is exported to different countries around the globe, such as United States, Brazil, England, France, the Netherlands, Uruguay, Canada, Mexico, Peru and Slovenia, between others.
